Day 3: Singapore -> KL
Another day where I was a bit anxious about the riding - but all has been okay alhamdulilah.
I’d planned to go back to KL today from SG, which was a bit more than I’d done for the last 2 days - about 3-4hrs riding (~340km or so). I’d planned to go back to KL today from SG, which was a bit more than I’d done for the last 2 days - about 3-4hrs riding (~340km or so).
The only problem was, that the Texas BBQ from last night did not agree with my stomach, so I was in pain for most of the evening and only had a few hours of sleep…I really need to get better at sleeping well before long riding days!
Morning was a nice coffee with Andrew at Nylon Coffee (one of my favourites in SG) - picked up a mini scale (and I will be giving away my main scale that I brought with me; I really need to shed some weight) and some beans from La Germania, Colombia. Looking forward to brewing some coffee tomorrow (I’ve not yet had any self-brewed coffee yet as each morning has been a rush to get up, get ready, and ride).
Then, a private transfer to JB (in the ultimate car, the Toyota Alphard) where my bike and gear had been stored. The folks at Southern Bike Barn were very accommodating and handed over (1) Sandeep, mirror gloss finish after the detail, (2) properly installed the USB charger I had purchased for when I’m off grid + need to charge devices, (3) my helmet back with the visor fixed.
They sent me off with a few stickers to place along my journey, and took a video for their socials. (I feel like quite the star).
Along the way, I was overtaken by some of the most insane riders I’ve seen. I was cruising at ~150, and was in medium traffic on the 2 lane highway with cars cruising at ~130kph. Suddenly, there’s this “NYEOWWWW” sound with 4 motorbikes passing me in quick succession. They were gone in a flash, and must have been travelling >200kph, while weaving between the lanes and racing each other.
Apart from that the road to KL was uneventful. I was in a rush to get there before dinner, so made the trip in 3h45m with just one 5-min stop for petrol.
Tomorrow: no riding (except maybe around the city). Off to meet my friend, before we set of north for China.
